IC695ACC400 Functional Description
The IC695ACC400 is an energy pack module from the PACSystem RX3i platform, current under Emerson AUtomation. This module is an optional module for controller modules such as CPE305 and CPE310. It is mainly used to provide power during power loss, sufficient enough to enable the CPU to transfer the contents of the Random Access Memory (RAM) to the Non-volatile (Flash) memory. This prevents unwanted erasure of the user program and data, increases system availability, and reduces downtime. This energy pack module is mounted to the side of the Power supply. A power cable with catalog number IC695CBL001 measuring 3 meters or 0.91 meters) connects the energy pack to the bottom of the CPU where the energy pack connector is embedded. This energy pack provides information regarding the charging status, fault, low capacitance, and charged status. It carries a certificate of compliance to the EU RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC. The IC695CBL001 is a straight-through end-to-end cable The connector type of this cable is Samtec PID1-040D-K while the cable itself is a 300 VAC rated, Tinned Copper conductor with PVC insulation. The crimp contacts are 3.8 Amperes Current rated at 95 Degree Celsius while the crimp housing is made of Nylon 66 or equivalent. The IC695ACC400 has a typical life expectancy of 10+ years when installed in an environment with an operating temperature of 0-50 Degree Celsius. At 60 Degree Celsius, the life expectancy drastically drops to 4.5 years only. This energy pack physically measures 140mm (5.5") H x 124mm (4.87") D x 25.4mm (1") W.
The IC695ACC400 energy pack is manufactured by GE Fanuc to be an energy pack for select CPUs from the GE Fanuc RX3i PacSystems product series. The IC695ACC400 CPU energy pack is specifically designed to work with the GE RX3i CPE302 CPU, the GE RX3i CPE305 CPU, and the GE RX3i CPE310 CPU. This CPU energy pack is not compatible with any other CPU models from the GE RX3i PacSystems product line. The purpose of the IC695ACC400 CPU energy pack is to maintain the power in the compatible CPU long enough for the CPU to write all of the contents of its user memory to the flash memory or the non-volatile storage memory to avoid data loss in the case of a power failure. The GE Fanuc RX3i PacSystems IC695ACC400 CPU energy pack is installed by being mounted on the left side of the RX3I module that is going to host it and it is connected to the host module's CPU with an RX3i cable that is known as the GE RX3i IC695CBL001 cable. The CPU, the module, and the CPU energy pack are all parts of a complete PLC system or Programmable Logic Controller system, and when the PLC is powered on, the IC695ACC400 CPU energy pack gets its energy by charging up with power that is provided by the RX3i PLC's 24 Volts DC rail through the same IC695CBL001 cable that connects the energy pack to the CPU. This CPU energy pack meets the EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU standards.
Installation:
The Energy Pack is mounted on the left side of an RX3i module. To avoid taking up a backplane slot, it should be mounted on the module (usually a power supply) in slot 0 of the rack. It is connected to the CPU by cable IC695CBL001. Note that, when mounted on a module in slot 0, the Energy Pack will extend approximately 13mm (0.5") beyond the left side of the backplane. To install the Energy Pack: 1. Engage the Energy Pack's mounting hooks on the frame of the module as shown in the figure below. 2. Rotate the bottom of the Energy Pack into place, engaging the bottom hooks. The latch will snap into place. 3. Connect the IC695CBL001 cable from the connector on the bottom of the Energy Pack to the corresponding connector on the bottom of the CPU.
