Boasting sixteen contact inputs for units in the Universal Relays series, General Electric Multilin's UR-6DH is a Digital I/O Module that can replace current modules or provide new capabilities to the given system. This Digital I/O Module allows the relay to communicate with equipment in the power system without the expensive hardwiring that would otherwise be required.
Communication and parameters collected by the UR-6DH module can be better interfaced with using GE Multilin's flagship EnerVista UR software program, which provides a vastly improved user interface over the simple keypad and LCD method. EnerVista offers Viewpoint Monitoring and Viewpoint Maintenance tools to easily edit settings relating to digital I/O communications and the module's functionality.
This particular module only contains Form-C contacts; users should ensure they do not have a need for Form-A or fast Form-C before purchasing this model. Similar Digital I/O modules in this series offer a combination of Form-A and Form-C (or fast Form-C) contacts that offer greater variability to the system, so prospective buyers should ponder their system needs before making a decision. A GE Multilin UR-6DH Digital I/O Input Output UR Series Universal Relay Module is a specific type of a digital I/O module that may be found within a UR Series universal relay. The unique universal relays have divergent applications. Some, like the Multilin L60 line phase comparison system, provide protection to lines and cables with different voltage characteristics. Others, such as the B30 bus differential system, provide feeders with impendence biased bus differential protection. Regardless of the specific type of universal relay and the specific end application, most if not all universal relays contain a digital I/O module in order to provide a universal relay with variable contact inputs and contact outputs. Different digital I/O modules have model numbers that specify which order option characterizes the module and therefore specifies the specific types of contact outputs and inputs that the module can provide the universal relay and the broader system application. If the order code includes a Form-A card then that digital I/O relay will have a very low activation speed, which may be beneficial to the end user. If the digital card has outputs that are mechanical latching then the system may not need a mechanical switch or a lockout relay.
