SS823
The Voting Units SS823 and SS832 have been specifically designed to work as control units within a redundant power supply configuration. The output connections from two Power Supply Units are connected to the Voting Unit.

The Voting Unit separates the redundant Power Supply Units, supervises the voltage supplied, and generates supervision signals to be connected to the power consumer. Green LED's, mounted on the front panel of the voting unit, provide a visual indication that the correct output voltage is being delivered. Simultaneously with the green LED illuminating, a voltage-free contact closes the path to the corresponding "OK connector". Voting Unit trip levels are factory preset.

The AC 800M High Integrity and the connected S880 High Integrity I/O system (including field power) shall be supplied from a SELV or PELV power supply (e.g. SD83x) connected through the power voter SS823. The SS823 Voting Unit has a double overvoltage protection circuit on input.

The digital input and output board, DSQC 223, has 16 opto-isolated inputs and 16 opto-isolated outputs. Each input and output has its own yellow LED which indicates whether or not the input/output is activated. The inputs and outputs normally receive their 24VDC supply from a customer connection, but this can also be supplied internally (XS3/XT3 terminals A15,B15,A16,B16,C16. If none of the I/O channels work, check first that the boards are initialized (the red F-LED should be OFF on all I/O boards). Note that if, for some reason, the system's parameters change, the red LED may be ON. Otherwise, the red LED may indicate that the I/O boards are faulty. Check also that the boards have a 24VDC supply (internal or external). Common sources of errors are cable faults, sensor faults, etc. You can use the I/O menu on the teach pendant to check whether the current I/O board is functioning properly. Refer to Chapter 11 - Inputs & Outputs for procedure.

 

AC 800M

AC 800M can be defined as a hardware platform consisting of individual hardware units. AC 800M hardware platform can be programmed to perform multiple functions, depending on the specific unit configuration and operating system selected.
The hardware units which form the AC 800M Controller are:
• Processor units (including base plates)
• Communication interfaces for different protocols (including base plates)
• Power supply units, providing various power output levels
• Battery back-up unit
• For High Integrity systems control applications with AC 800M HI, special module SM810/SM811/SM812, is needed
Once configured, the AC 800M hardware platform effectively becomes the AC 800M Controller. Equipped with the specified Control Software, the AC 800M Controller can be used for all kinds of process and industrial automation applications. With Control Software, the controller can act either as a stand alone process controller or as a controller, performing local control tasks, in a control network consisting of many interconnected computers. The AC 800M Controller is delivered without firmware. To provide the controller with Control Software, it will first be necessary to load the firmware and create the application separately by using the Control Builder interface.
