HIMAX X-COM01 Product Description
The X-COM 01 communication module is intended for use in the programmable electronic system (PES) HIMax. The module is inserted into any of the base plate slots with the exception of the slots reserved for system bus modules. For more information, refer to the System Manual (HI 801 001 E). The module is approved for use in the safety-related HIMax system and can be used to transport safety-related protocols. The module ensures communication with systems via Ethernet and fieldbus interfaces with safeethernet and different standard protocols.

HIMAX X-COM01 Connector board
The connector board connects the module to other systems using the Ethernet and fieldbus interfaces. Each module forms a functional unit with the connector board. The connector board for the module is designated as X-CB 001 02. The connector board must be inserted into the appropriate slot prior to mounting the module on the base plate.

HIMAX X-AO1601 Function
The function of the termination board and the connector pin assignment is exactly fitted to the requirements of the HIMA HIMax system.
The signal is output to the safety instrumented system via the system connector. Information about a missing supply voltage of the isolated barriers is available for the system as a volt-free contact. Wiring faults from the field side will be reported via the same relay contact, if this function is supported by the isolated barriers.
The termination board has a robust glass fiber reinforced plastic housing.
The termination board is mounted in the switch cabinet on a 35 mm DIN mounting rail according to EN 60175

HIMAX X-CPU01 Overview
HIMAX X-CPU01 Product Description
The X-CPU 01 processor module is absolutely required for data processing within the HIMax system. The processor module is used for:
• Processing of up to 32 user programs
• Performing all central functions including communication
• Handling redundancy with up to 3 additional processor modules
• Handling communication via safeethernet.
• Creating and storing CPU events.
• Storing events created by I/O modules. The module has been certified by the TÜV for safety-related applications up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 62061), Cat. 4 (EN 954-1) and PL e (EN ISO 13849-1). Refer to the HIMax Safety Manual (HI 801 003 E) for more information on the standards used to test and certify the modules and the HIMax system.
Safety Function of the HIMAX X-CPU01 Module
The safety function of the processor module includes the following points:
• Processing the user programs.
- If faults occur: Stop the user program and reset the variables to the initial values
- If faults occur: Reset the processor module to the safe state and report the CPU status
• Safe communication between HIMA controllers (HIMax, HIMatrix, and remote I/O modules) using the safety
-related safeethernet protocol. Data is transferred using either the Ethernet interfaces of the processor module itself or using the Ethernet interfaces of a COM module.
The safety function is performed in accordance with SIL 3.
The following elements also contribute to achieving the safety function:
• Hardware self-tests
• Safe communication with the I/O modules

HIMax can be used for various control tasks within the process and factory automation industry.
HIMax is a safety-related control system and is intended for continuous operation and maximum availability. HIMax is a modular system. Functions such as processing, input and output or communication are distributed on plug-in modules that can be inserted in one or several base plates. A controller specific to the application can be created by selecting appropriate modules. Ethernet cables are used to interconnect the base plates. The controller can be easily adapted to future extensions of the process to be controlled, e.g., by adding modules or base plates containing modules. Figure 1 shows the structure of the HIMax system. The figure shows the base plates, both system busses, the system bus modules, the processor modules and the Connector Boards of the modules. To increase availability, HIMax is intended for redundant operation. For more information, refer to Chapter 4. The system can also be used as mono, non-redundant system. For more information, refer to Chapter 3.3.2, Variant 1, and Appendix. In either case, safety-related operation up to SIL 3 is ensured.
